How does FOS WindCHECK® work?

Fast and simple calculation to find the required quantity of storm clips

In order to find the ideal fixing solution, compliant with professional standards, an individual wind load calculation has to be done for every building. Our free calculation tool FOS WindCHECK® quickly and easily works out exactly, what is needed, without the hassle of having to apply complicated formulas.

Please note that the wind up lift calculation is available for buildings Germany and Austria and is not valid for exposed locations.

The FOS tool calculates the following for buildings in Germany and Austria:

  • wind loads on the basis of various factors, e.g. topographical and geographical location, building height, roof shape and pitch.
  • the resultant fixing requirements in individual areas of the roof.

The results show:

  • which storm clips are best suited to the particular tile design.
  • how many storm clips you will need for the task.
  • number of clips required for fixing different roof areas.
  • which type of installation is the most suitable, e.g. fixing of each tile, every second tile or every third tile.

Here's how to do it:

Simply click FOS WindCHECK® and enter the required data for your roofing project step by step. In just 3 minutes you will have the complete calculation.

Step-by-step instruction, Download PDF PDF (1,58 MB) .

You are now able to save the results in a PDF file for download and printing. The resulting PDF can be saved under My FOS -> WindCHECK archive and can be retrieved again later on if necessary.

Patch notes:
We made it possible for you to even add in some roof obstructions like a gable or chimney. The roofers benefits are: The roof sketch shows exactly where the clips have to be installed in particular around the roof obstructions, so that the required number of clips can be calculated much more accurately e.g. no clips for roof windows = less clips required.

Further, there are not only gable-, monopitch-, pavilion- and hip roofs that can be calculated, but more so the complex roof shapes like half-hip-, mansard- and T-roof or angled- and three-gabled buildings.

By the way the wind uplift calculation can also be conveniently used on your smartphone or tablet. Our new website is programmed to accommodate different display sizes for every common output device.
